For all you Cuban music fans out there, if you’re heading to Brazil this weekend you’re in for a real treat.
Starting today, the Cultural Center of Caixa is hosting a Brazil Cuba Cultural Festival in Centro, bringing together Brazilian and Cuban musicians for audiences as they exchange knowledge with open music workshops.
On May 5th, Cuban singer Pepe Cisneros will be combining his Afro-Cuban and latin jazz references with Brazilian singer Thai.
On May 6th, the two artists will collaborate with Cuban singer Fernando Ferrer (nephew of Buena Vista Social Club’s Ibrahim Ferrer) and his band.
“I really wanted to make it happen in Brazil: to mix Cuban and Brazilian music to show people these cultures have a lot in common,” said Ferrer (pictured).
