U.S. technology outsourcing firm iTexico has unveiled a software development center in the Central Mexican town of Aguascalientes.
This is the company’s second delivery center in the Latin American country, with the other located in Guadalajara, where the company has reportedly invested more than US$18 million in the last six years.
The need to have ‘alternative sources of talent’ prompted the company to expand operations to Aguascalientes, according to company officials.
“Both development centers will coordinate seamlessly with iTexico’s headquarters in Austin, Texas, to provide US clients with the benefits of the company’s nearshoring service model,” the company stated in a press release.
“Aguascalientes is emerging as a city with great potential, and because of its proximity to Guadalajara, it facilitates integration with existing teams in our delivery center and gives our growing customer base more capacity,” said Guillermo Ortega, COO at iTexico.
The Austin, Texas-based firm counts Groupon, MacDonald’s, Lithium, and Hubpages among its clients and Microsoft and IBM among its partners.
The US firm, which made its foray into Mexico in 2011, says it has no interest in setting up offshore development centers, but is determined to make the most of Mexico’s proximity, time zone advantages, growing technology talent capacity, and greater cultural alignment with the United States.
According to Mexico IT, the American firm is also in talks with the National Chamber of the Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technologies Industry (CANIETI) to launch a software development center in Cancun, Mexico’s popular beach resort town.
