US Call Center Provider Etech Adds 200 Seats to Jamaica Operations

BPO and technology solutions provider Etech Global Services has bulked up in Jamaica, establishing a new contact center in the Montego Bay Free Zone.

The company, based out of Nacogdoches, Texas, has plans to employ as many as 400 people in the new Jamaican facility over the next few years.

For now, the facility is equipped with over 200 operational seats and supports everything from Live Chat to traditional inbound/outbound services.

“The new center will serve as the new nearshore location for Etech. Having this new center truly has opened more doors for Etech to grow and bring more jobs to the local Montego Bay area,” said Jim Iyoob, Etech’s Chief Customer Officer, in a press release.

The Montego Bay Free Zone, established in 1985, currently has over 600,000 square feet of space divided between services and manufacturing. It has generated over 7,000 direct jobs, 95% of which are in the ICT sector.

“Our investment in this new facility reinforces our commitment to grow and diversify the channels through which we serve our customers,” said Etech’s President and General Manager, Matt Rocco.

Rocco has long favored expanding operations in Jamaica, as the country offers many benefits besides a young, Eglish-speaking population, he stated a blog post. “Operating costs [in Jamaica] are lower than that of the US and given the EST time zone, Jamaica offers operational hours that are closer to the standard US business day.”
