Brazilian bank Itau has won a lawsuit over suggestions that call center workers employed through outsourcing companies should be treated as employees of the bank.
The win came from a majority vote in court, which maintained that taking calls to answer questions did not make call center workers bank employees.
“What we expect is that with the labor reform and now this decision, there will be security and certainty for call center outsourcing,” quoted Bloomberg, citing attorney Daniel Chiode from Chiode Minicucci.
“The superior labor court understood that call center operations do not involve banking operations, and this is a precedent for other sectors,” said attorney Estevao Mallet from Mallet Advogados in the same article.
