Five Central American investment promotion agencies are jointly organizing a summit on outsourcing services in the Nicaraguan capital Managua. The two-day event, which begins November 7, will emphasize outsourcing opportunities in the region.

Organizers of the event say they want to capitalize on the region’s competitive advantages – such as its cultural and geographical proximity with the United States – to promote the region as a nearshore outsourcing hub. The event is hosted by Nicaraguan investment promotion agency PRONicaragua and will be coordinated by other agencies including CINDE (Costa Rica), FIDE (Honduras), Invest in Guatemala and PROESA (El Salvador).

Industry experts will present their views on the advantages and disadvantages of setting up an outsourcing services business in the region and discuss the prospects for the future growth of the market. Central America is already home to several internationally renowned companies such as IBM, TCS, Intel, Xerox, Transactel, Sykes, Stream Global Services, Citi and Hewlett-Packard.

Outsourcing companies participating in the event can expect to interact with representatives from the investment promotion agencies and have their questions answered about investment opportunities, says a press release from PRONicaragua. There will also be a business matchmaking session allowing foreign and regional companies to establish contacts and alliances.

Speakers include Dawn Evans, President and CEO of Sourcing Interest Group (SIG); Kirk Laughlin, Founder and Editorial Director of Nearshore Americas; Ann Harts, Principal of Hickey & Associates, LLC; Atul Vashistha, Chairman of Neo Group & Nearshore Executive Alliance; Mike Barrett, Vice Chairman of the Board of Nearshore Executive Alliance; and Peter Ryan, OVUM’s Lead Global IT Analyst.
