RBC Global Asset Management has drawn out a five-year commitment to invest US$20 million into an in-house innovation lab, also acquiring Toronto-based digital advisory firm Wiser Investments as part of the package.

The investment will fund initiatives to incubate digital capabilities and drive innovation across the firm, and the lab will partner with the established community of digital technology experts at the bank as they develop tools for the retail and institutional businesses.

“We actively seek new ideas and approaches, so we’re also collaborating with emerging technology partners to tackle some of the most interesting opportunities to better serve our clients,” said Gabriel Woo, Vice president of Innovation at RBC.
