Many companies in the IT and BPO services sector bring a lot more than just jobs to the communities where they set up operations. Corporate social responsibility has long been a calling card for industry firms, and TCS has done its share of outreach in recent years. In Guadalajara, Mexico, Tata employees have devoted their time and care to Instituto Down de Occidente, an association for families with child that have Down syndrome. During one visit — which also featured dancing, music, and art time — the team supplemented its donations by helping the kids bake cookies. “The kids [sell] the cookies that they made to get funds for the institution and to buy things for education,” said one team member.
